January 14, 2011 my thoughts for the day!!

My thoughts for the Day

I am a wife and mother of two very energetic girls.  I am a full-time paralegal at a law firm and have been there for the past 12 years.  I enjoy crafting, photography, family, writing, and various other things.  You could say I am a jack of all traits and master of known.

I would have to say that my love of crafting began when I was nine years old.  I had to have surgery and they couldn't get me to hold still.  My great Aunt decided to teach me how to crochet.  I have loved crafting since that time.  Out of three daughters and numerous grand-daughters, I am the only one that she taught to crochet.  She made her grand-daughters blankets that she called their "Maybe Baby" blankets.  She would make them in a neutral color that way if they had a boy or a girl they would have them.

She passed away a few years ago and had left several unfinished projects and tons of different colors of yarn.  One of her projects was an afghan for her grand-daughter Erica's wedding.  Erica had already picked out the yarn colors that she wanted and she had started it.  I asked my cousin if I could take the unfinished project and complete it for her.  I was not able to attend Erica's wedding, but I was able to complete the afghan and surprise her with it.  My mom put on the card from myself and Grandma North.  It meant the world to me to be able to finish it for her.  I have one more to finish and plan on having it done in the next couple of months.  I wasn't able to find the exact match of yarn that she used, but I have found a close second.

For Christmas a couple years ago I asked for a professional camera.  I would love to take pictures as a career someday, but in the meantime, I am taking pictures of friends kids and families.   I took the picture of my girls on this page at a cemetery along with numerous others of a friends little girl.  I know it sounds like a strange place to take pictures, but it is a beautiful cemetery with a lot of different settings in one area.  There is very little traffic to have to deal with and you don't have to find a place to park.  You can just park anywhere.  My favorite pictures are the ones where they are being natural and not staring at the camera.  That is why I love the one above.

This picture is another favorite that was taken at the pond at my Aunt Sissy's house. They were all so focused on the little one that they forgot I was taking pictures.  These always seem to be the ones that turn out the best and the ones that I love.  For Christmas this year we got the great-grand-daughters together and took pictures for their Great-Grandmother (GG) as they call her for a collage.  It turned out really nice.
